A letter from Tom Campbell

I would like to welcome you to Aiken Hounds 2024–2025 hunt season.  

I’m Tom Campbell, newly designated contact for matters relating to Supporting Members’ participation in hunt events. My wife is Dorothy Knuppel. We were members of Middleton Place Hounds for over forty years.  Dorothy was a riding member early on and we both were supporting members, also of Lowcountry Hunt, before we moved to the Aiken area and joined the Aiken Hounds hunting community.

Participating in many of the Aiken Hounds gatherings is a major part of enjoying this terrific community.

A fox hunt club needs the active participation of all its members, riding and supporting.  Over the next couple of months we have a variety of activities planned before our Formal Hunt season begins that involve support from members. They include the following:

• Trail rides followed by an informal luncheon, beginning in September
• Master Larry Byers will conduct a Fox Hunting 101 event at the kennels on September 26
• Hunter Pace at Fox Nation
• The Axe Club prepares the jumps in Hitchcock Woods in October and November
• Fall hunting starts in October
• Halloween Hunt on October 29

There are many more events in November and throughout the Formal Hunt season to which all members are invited.  I invite each of you to let me know your interests to support the non-hunting activities such as workdays, horse events, hunt ball, and social events.

Following our Tuesday hunts, we will announce specific locations for all members to get together, probably at the Green Boundary Club or Park Avenue Grill.  All members, riding and hunt supporters are welcome to enjoy our Hunt Breakfasts after the Saturday hunts during the formal season.

We look forward to welcoming and incorporating all of our Supporting Members into all aspects of making this coming hunt season another GREAT one.
